Lake Success Energy Park Solar Project Selected in Connecticut Renewable Energy Solicitation

A proposed 4-megawatt solar project at Lake Success Energy Park has been selected in Connecticut’s latest renewable energy solicitation, marking a major milestone in plans to transform a portion of the Lake Success property into a source of renewable and clean, locally generated power.

United Illuminating (UI) awarded the solar project a contract through Connecticut’s competitive Non-Residential Renewable Energy Solutions (NRES) program, which supports the development of commercial-scale renewable energy projects that provide clean, renewable power to the electric grid.

While the solar project has reached an important milestone through the UI NRES bid award, several additional steps remain, including permitting and regulatory reviews. The solar development team will continue advancing the required approval and interconnection processes with the Connecticut Siting Council, the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), UI, and the City of Bridgeport. Construction is expected to begin following the completion of those approvals, with the project anticipated to be constructed and operational in 2027 and in time to benefit from the expiring Federal Solar Investment Tax Credits.
